Soweto Central Chorus (SCC) is a vibrant and dynamic choir that traces its humble beginnings to a church in Mofolo, Soweto. What started as a small group of voices united in worship has blossomed over the past twelve years into a renowned ensemble of over 60 members, many of whom are connected by family ties and a shared passion for spreading the word of God through song. Based in the heart of Soweto, SCC has grown from its ecclesiastical roots into a celebrated musical collective, known for its eclectic approach and powerful performances.

Since its inception in 2013, Soweto Central Chorus has achieved remarkable milestones. The choir has released albums that showcase its ability to minister through melody, and its live performances on some of South Africa’s biggest stages have captivated listeners. One of its standout achievements came in 2019 with the collaboration alongside Samthing Soweto on the hit song *Bawo*. The track, a soul-stirring blend of gospel and contemporary sounds, has amassed over 8 million views on
YouTube, cementing SCC’s place in the broader music
landscape.
SCC’s collaborative spirit extends to an impressive roster of
acclaimed artists. The choir has shared the stage and studio with the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo, gospel luminaries like Ntokozo Mbambo, Nqubeko Mbatha, Mmatema, Betusile Mcinga, and Dumi Mkokstad, as well as versatile performers such as Mbuso Khoza, Siphokazi, and, more recently, Khaya Mthethwa, Manu WorldStar, and Thando Zide. These partnerships highlight SCC’s ability to bridge genres and connect with diverse audiences, all while maintaining its foundational commitment to faith-inspired music.

twelve years of growth, countless performances, and a legacy of uplifting collaborations, SCC continues to inspire and minister to souls across South Africa and beyond, proving that music can transcend boundaries and speak directly to the heart.
